UC Ship Funds Program:
R/V Roger Revelle and R/V Melville
In 1992, the Office of Naval Research (ONR) awarded the operation of R/V Roger Revelle to Scripps Institution of Oceanography, in part due to strong cross-campus support between the marine science programs at UC Santa Barbara, UC Santa Cruz, and UC San Diego. In recognition of this collaboration, students, faculty and staff from any of these campuses are invited to compete equally for Program ship time aboard Roger Revelle.
Faculty, Staff and Students from Scripps, UC Santa Barbara and UC Santa Cruz
Due to scheduling constaints aboard Revelle, beginning in 2010 ONR agreed to permit these funds to be applied toward Melville ship time, so that students would be able to conduct seagoing research in a timely way. This allowance will continue for 2013 ship time.
R/V New Horizon and R/V Robert Gordon Sproul
The Scripps Institution of Oceanography provides separate institutional support for ship time aboard the research vessels New Horizon, and Robert Gordon Sproul. These funds are available exclusively to Scripps students, faculty and staff to conduct teaching and research at sea aboard these vessels. Please refer to the most recent Request for Proposals for guidance on opportunities.
