UC Ship Funds Program:

2012 Request for Proposals

For ship time to be used during calendar year 2013

The UC Ship Funds Program is now soliciting proposals from students, postdoctoral researchers, faculty and staff for ship time aboard research vessels operated by the Scripps Institution of Oceanography.

Proposals for work during the periods of availability below are solicited. Revelle cost match funds will be applicable to Melville again this year. Click here for an explanation why.

Due to funding constraints, nearly all awards this year will be made for ship time aboard Roger Revelle. Funds for other ships are extremely limited.

Awards pay for ship time and the operation of standard shipboard instrumentation at sea. For student cruises, limited funds are available for cruise-related expenses (for instance non-standard shipboard instrumentation, shipping, travel, data processing, or sample analysis costs). To be considered, these costs should be specifically described and estimated in the proposal.

Availability

Up to 22 days at sea will be awarded, either as a single cruise or the sum of multiple shorter cruises.

Where: Kaohsiung, Taiwan to Kaohsiung, Taiwan. Due to foreign clearance deadlines, some kinds of work may be restricted to international waters.
