Not every report from sea brims with attention-grabbing highlights. The Crozet Basin is wide and with subtle water-property variations. We have begun crossing the Southeast Indian Ridge, keeping in a fracture zone for the approach, which may provide interesting data on mixing in these zones. However, sometimes no news is good news. The food is good (and we still have lettuce), the support from the officers and crew is solid, the science and technical teams are all doing a fantastic job, the weather is fine, and there are no incidents to report as we occupy the planned stations one by one.

Our hard-working team of expert analysts doggedly chase after every last detail of their measurements, making for data of superb quality. All aboard are ever more aware what a long haul this is. If this were an Atlantic Ocean transect we might be thinking about our final stations. As it is we have completed slightly more than half our transect, on schedule, and with just under half the cruise yet to go.

All is well.
