Dear Larry:
This is to confirm our discussion earlier today about Navy clearance
for our May 1-2 test trip aboard New Horizon.
Please request Navy clearance for instrument testing in the San Diego Trough:
NE quadrant of 2744, and NW quadrant of 2743.
We plan to deploy and recover 2 bottom moored acoustic transponders,
and to test our Deep Tow instrument package by towing it 20-80 m above
the bottom.
We intend to get underway at 0800 May 1st and if all goes well,
we shall return that same evening. However, we keep May 2nd as
a contingency day, so please request clearance in the area specified
above for both days.
I do not have a final list for the scientific party, but
I plan on taking 10-12 people along, including a Resident Technician.
Thank you for taking care of Navy clearance matters.
