To: Lawrence Eastman
CC: Dr. D. Checkley, Dr. M. Mullin
From: Shannon L. Cass Calay
Subject: Navy Clearance

This memo refers to a cruise aboard the R/V Sproul which will take place Feb. 6-
14, 1996. I request to work inside the polygon defined by:

The equipment used during this cruise will include the MOCNESS/OPC, Bongo
nets, Plankton pump, Kelp net, and CTD. I have included a table of the information
requested for each apparatus. Please note that weight and dimensions are only
estimates.

Each of these procedures may take place at any station. However, the Bongo and
CTD casts will take place at every station.

Enclosed is a copy of the cruise plan. The proposed station locations are outlined
in this plan. However, additional stations may be added at the request of the Chief
Scientist. These stations will fall within the area designated. The time of arrival on
station is my best estimate, but as this plan is an adaptive sampling procedure, the times
are not firm.

Enc. 1

To: Shannon Cass-Calay

Date: 12 December 1995

Ship: R/V Robert G. Sproul

Cruise Dates: 7-15 February 1996

Change to: 6-14 February, 1996

Other changes/notes: May want to move to a day later.

As long as I have a full day to load the Sproul, (e.g., Feb 5), I
prefer the Feb 6-14 cruise dates. If you like, you can officially schedule
my cruise for those dates.

I am attaching a copy of my ship time proposal. However, it was
originally an IBM word document, and my email account is on a Mac so I
don't know how it will look when you recieve it. If you need a hardcopy
just let me know.

At this time, the following people are scheduled to participate on
this cruise:

Shannon Cass Calay SIO/BO student
Scott Rumsey SIO/BO student
Alistair Hobday SIO/BO student
David Hyrenbach SIO/BO student
Dr. Mike Mullin MLRG Faculty
Dave Griffith NOAA Technician

There will likely be 5-6 more volunteers. I will get the names to you as
quickly as I can.

Thanks,
Shannon Cass Calay
