Larry:

Although I suspect that Bill Wild (NRaD PI for this work) has already submitted a
request of some sort to the Navy, please request Navy clearance to work inside a circle
with a radius of 2 nm, centered at 32-45.4N/119-35.7W

We shall be on station from about 1800H, July 29 through 0400H Aug 13.
Station work involves deploying and retreiving bottom moored acoustic transponders
(9-12 kHz), and taking approximately 72 sediment box core samples navigated with the
Deep Tow control vehicle.

Thank you.

Dear Liz and Rose:

This is to confirm that we intend to use R.V. New Horizon
for 16 days at sea starting Nov 6 and returning Nov 21.
We would like to have 2 days (Nov 4-5) for loading and 1 day
(Nov 22) for off-loading. We will need a Res Tech for the duration.

We shall use the 5.5 km long 0.68" electromechanical tow cable,
the slack-tensioner and the A-frame. The Deep Tow van will be on deck.
This will be a "precision" box-coring operation and will involve a
contingent from MEC who will be in charge of the mud samples once they are
on deck.

Please note that I shall be the point of contact while John Hildebrand is
at sea, but John is the designated Chief Scientist for this trip.
I'll keep you updated on the planning as it firms up.

Cheers

Christian
