Cast Information: ~200 stations/casts (172 done in Feb-Mar, 1997) with
      XBT's (83 done Feb-Mar, 1997) between each station.
      ADCP RDI 150kHz Narrow Band running continuously. 24-hour shore stations.

Leg 1 Cruise track is similar to previous cruise, no CTDs below 1000m (unless
the bottom is a few meters further).
     ODF technician to provide support to ensure consistency between 
     institution's data acquisition files for CTD, XBT and ADCP data.

   12 place rosette with 2-liter bottles
    1 each  Guildline Autosal 8400A with computer
    6 cases Salinity bottles (24 or 18 bottles per case)
   30 vials Standard Seawater 
      8mm tapes for backup

	    Seabird Temperature and Conductivity Sensors for dual purpose

Additional Information: Seabird CTD 911 Plus with GPIB interface
      will be used with a 12 bottle rosette of STS manufacture.
      The acquisition PC contains 2 gigabytes of disk space, 
      TCP/IP and an Exabyte and Colorado Trakker tape drive and a zip drive.
      The XBT system is the MKXII. Ship specifics can also be found on the

Sensor calibration to be performed pre and post cruise.
CTD and Transmissometer data to be finalized by ODF.
XBT and ADCP to be finalized by GDC.
CTD Station/Cast numbering to begin with 001 and continue, coinciding
with the lowering number.
The same is true of the numbering for the XBT's start numbering with 001.

The following has been requested of all ships to accomplish NAVO data
requirements:
1) 2 experienced deck supervisors, each working a 12 hour shift
2) 2 persons experienced with operating the Seabird CTD software
   One of the above should assist in salinity sample drawing and analysis

EQUIPMENT including but not limited to:
1) Sippican MK12 digital XBT system
2) RDI ADCP running TRANSECT software
3) Seabird 9/11 plus CTD with dual temp/cond sensors
4) CTD sensor calibrations pre- and post-cruise
5) Salinometer (Portasal or Autosal) with proper Kimax salt bottles
6) non-leaking water samplers
7) DGPS interfaced to ADCP and CTD deck units
8) Altimeter,
9) Transmissometer
10) Depth Recorder
11) Standard Seawater for salinity samples
