CRUISE PLAN Date of the cruise: October 4, 1998 Ship: R/V Robert G. Sproul Estimated time of departure: 10:00 am Estimated time of return: 04:30 - 05:30 pm Chief Scientist: Dr. Dariusz Stramski Marine Physical Laboratory Scripps Institution of Oceanography Phone: (619) 534 3353 Fax: (619) 534 7641 E-mail: stramski@mpl.ucsd.edu This cruise is being organized as a workshop/technical tour of the Fifth International Conference on Remote Sensing for Marine and Coastal Environments to be held in San Diego October 5-7, 1998. The title of the workshop is "In situ optical measurements in support of satellite remote sensing of ocean color". The purpose of the workshop is to demonstrate sthe tate-of-the-art optical instrumentation and measurement techniques that support satellite ocean color missions. We will depart at approximately 10:00 am. We will reach the station located 10-20 miles offshore in the west direction (depth between 100 and 200 m) after 1.5-2 hours of steaming. We will occupy the station for about 4 hours. The activities on the station will include a deployment of several instrument packages for measuring underwater light fields and optical properties of the ocean. The estimated time of return to the port is 04:30-05:30 pm. ----------------------------------------------- Dariusz Stramski Marine Physical Laboratory Scripps Institution of Oceanography University of California at San Diego La Jolla, CA 92093-0238 phone: (619) 534 3353 fax: (619) 534 7641 e-mail: stramski@mpl.ucsd.edu http://www-mpl.ucsd.edu/people/stramski -----------------------------------------------
